After much admiration from afar, pastoral folk romeo Roger Tarry and four-times John Peel sessionist Caroline Martin performed two tracks together at the Folkhouse in Bristol. They quickly discovered the importance of this moment, realising that their vocals and musical touches was the perfect missing piece to their existing material. Together they weave brooding tales, with beautiful harmonies and menacing bowed guitar, sweetening or darkening the music as required. Bolstered by Nic Davies on drums, Ben Goode on bass and Toby Field on piano, the band have chalked up radio sessions, supported The National and Amy Lavere, gigged in Germany and are planning a UK tour for next year. For one night only they play as Carrie & the Prom Queens.
In the 1970's Chris made two records for Billy Gaff and David Geffen
and these albums have now achieved cult status. In the 1980s Chris
worked as a lyricist with Franck Langolf and contributed to two Stones
albums (Dirty Work and Steel Wheels).
It was 1994 with the release of 'Atcha' (Rock the Zydeco in the USA)
that Chris established his musical identity and plotted a course that
he is still pursuing. That course combines CJ's interest in Zydeco,
Cajun and Country with the underlying strands of R'n'B, Rock and World
music. Constant touring has enabled Chris to hone his skills as
frontman and vocalist. In his band he also plays guitar and washboard.
Beginning as a bottleneck blues player Phillip has branched out to
encorporate a wide range of musical styles into his playing. His dazzling
technique showcases carefull study of such world slide guitar stlyes as
Hindustani slide guitar, bluegrass dobro amd Hawiian lap steel, deftly combined
with a strong grounding in traditional music of the British Ilses. Phillip is
also a fiery harmonica player, heavily influenced by Sonny Terry.
Stripped down to just piano and voice, Daisy's songs weigh heavy with a
haunting beauty and romantic intensity. With a voice that ranges from a
whisper to a "herculean howl", new album And There Shall Be None
chronicle's relationship breakdowns, where intimate moments give way to
sonic vocal blasts to highlight the tempestuous affairs of the heart.

About Ruby Brown
"It's all fabulous...and Love too Soon is outstanding...put it first on the E.P." - Midge Ure
"You're going in the right direction" - Grant Marshal
"What a wonderful song, what a wonderful voice. I congratulate you!" - Peter Sarstedt 2008
"Ruby Brown is such an experienced and emotive singer it’s hard to believe she’s only recently allowed herself fully into the limelight. Her new set-up, supported by decent and attentive musicians, allows her voice full freedom to roam. With all the vulnerable beauty of a captive mermaid, she tingles spines by effortlessly shifting from whispery lulls to strong and memorable melodies. Sensitive and at times melancholy, in an easy blend of jazz and folk comparable to singers such as Jewel and Norah Jones, Ruby delivers with a confident subtlety that makes it appealing and instant throughout." - jon gibson

Phil King released his debut album "Leaves" in Nov 2006. It received some fantastic press, both regional and National. (see reviews page). He has performed all over the UK, including at some fantastic festivals including Glastonbury Fest, Bestival, Guilfest, Ashton Court Fest, The Sunrise Celebration, Priddy Folk Fest, Cheltenham Jazz Fest, Bath Fringe, Trowbridge Pump Fest and Bristol Harbourside.
"Supremely talented Bristol-based singer, Phil King. He has a voice to die for."
-Time Out, London, October 2008
"Sensitive, heart-on-sleeve songs....this is a very good debut, whose best tunes create a suitably intimate and meloncholy mood, enhanced by laid-back acoustic picking and subtle swells of hammond organ."
-The Independant On Sunday, 18th March 2007
"...sound as American and black as Brits dare".
Melody
Maker.
Right now, the King Snakes are a refreshing mixture of (relative) youth and experience. The experience starting at the top, for Paul Lamb has spent the last thirty-some years whoopin' and hollerin' in clubs in his native North-East plus a later move to London, in concert and on festival stages, creating a personal synthesis of his harmonica heroes and his own unique and innate talent. His history includes representing Britain in the World Harmonica Championships, working with his particular mentor, Sonny Terry, and with any number of other blues artists who've visited these shores.
What the press have to say about PAUL LAMB & THE KING SNAKES:
"... simply better than the opposition - from whatever side of the Atlantic it happens to come". Blueprint.
"Paul Lamb & The King Snakes are a bloody marvellous band". Blues in the South.
"They play blues in the same way Brando used to straddle a Triumph…. lazily, cocksure, coolly and aggressive” Blues & Rhythm.
"...sound as American and black....... as white as Brits dare". Melody Maker.
"... you certainly won't feel blue at the end of the night." South China Post, Hong Kong.
"... can Brits play the blues?.....if the Brits are Paul Lamb and the King Snakes, a resounding yes, is the answer." Jakarta - What's On.
"absolute dynamite" The Times.
